RegEnergy Fr\u00f6vi: The first tomatoes are ready<\/h2>\n

The first project in the Selected RegEnergy fund is now literally bearing fruit. Two years after the first groundbreaking and the completed greenhouse that was ready in May this year, the first tomatoes have been harvested in the 100,000 m2 greenhouse in Fr\u00f6vi.<\/p>\n

At the end of May, no less than 250,000 tomato plants were planted. The first tomatoes have now been harvested, and the Swedish supermarket chain ICA has received them, so they are already available in stores.<\/p>\n

Local food production through the reuse of waste heat<\/h2>\n

More than 80% of Sweden’s tomatoes currently come from imports. The Selected RegEnergy project in Fr\u00f6vi will change this.<\/p>\n

The greenhouse will annually produce about 10% of Sweden’s total tomato consumption. The heat for the tomatoes in the greenhouse comes from waste heat from the nearby paper mill, Billerud. Here, the waste heat from the paper mill is collected and transported through a 400 km long piping system around the greenhouse.<\/p>\n

The Selected RegEnergy fund<\/h2>\n

The RegEnergy project in Fr\u00f6vi is just the first of a series of projects in the Selected RegEnergy fund. The fund’s other projects will also involve the establishment of greenhouses, where the utilization of waste products from industrial production can be used for sustainable food and biomaterial production.<\/p>\n

An investment in the Selected RegEnergy fund is a long-term investment with an average annual return of +15% per year.<\/p>\n
